Welcome to the Monticello Fire Department Web Site. We have been proudly serving our community since 1869, when we were the Monticello Hook and Ladder Company. Today we are a 23 man department, staffed by career professional Firefighter Paramedics. The staff is supplemented by part time Firefighter EMT's and volunteers.

The Department boasts an ISO class 4 rating. Only 8% of fire departments in Indiana have an equal or better score. This is due to the dedication of our Firefighters striving to be the best, supported by a city government that provides the equipment needed to keep out community safe.

The Department operates 3 Engine companies with a combined pump capacity of 5,000 gallons per minute, 1 Truck company with a 100 foot aerial ladder and a 2000 gpm pump, a heavy Rescue company, a 2000 gallon Tanker that also serves as a reserve Engine company, a bruch truck, a Water rescue Truck, and 2 boats.

Monticello Firefighters also respond with 3 Advanced Life Support, Paramedic staffed ambulances. The Heavy rescue Company also carries a full complement of Paramedic gear and is cerified as an Advanced Life Support non-transporting unit.

Every day, no fewer than 6 Firefighter Paramedics stand ready to respond on a moments notice to any emergency that arises, any time, any place. And those Firefighter Paramedics answer over 3000 alarms a year for life threatening medical emergencies, devastating injuries, and fires burning out of control.

The Department provides fire protection to the City of Monticello, Union Township in White County, and Jefferson township in Carroll County. We also provide automatic mutual aid to all surrounding departments. We provide Paramedic Ambulances to the City of Monticello, most of White County, and Jefferson Township in Carroll County.

The Department is extremely proud of its rescue services. We have literally rescued people from the bottom of our lakes to the top of water towers, and most points in between. Firefighters are trained and equipped for vehicle and machinery extrication, building collapse, trench rescue, confined space rescue, high and low angle rescue, swift water, SCUBA, and surface ice rescues.

We are most proud of our people. Highly trained and dedicated men who have made caring for our community their lives' work. We stand ready, day or night, to put the needs of others ahead of our own, to make Monticello a safe and wonderful place to live and visit.

Our mission statement: It is the purpose of the Monticello Fire Department to provide the Emergency, Fire, and Rescue services necessary to meet the needs of our community.
