The Monticello City Parks Department announces the following May/Early June Programs. Please register for each class.  To register call Cindy Isom at 574-583-4525 or the Parks Department at 574-583-3983 or leave a message.  Most classes are free of charge, unless noted in the description.  If you have general questions, please call Cindy Isom at 574-583-4525.
  • Tuesday, May 10th Family Community Gardens - in Community Gardens on Hanawalt St. at 7pm. This month’s lesson will be Andrew Westfall from the Purdue Extension speaking on plant diseases or pests your garden may get.
  • Friday, May 13th Flower Power - 6:30pm - Altherr Nature Park Amphitheater ( In case of rain- Anheier Building in City Park) Students from Frankie Rupe’s School of Guitar will play by the campfire. For all ages, free, dress for the weather.
  • Thursday, May 26th Art in the Park-Quilling Flowers – 6-8pm - Anheier Building in City Park. Joy will show us new and old techniques to craft a quilled flower picture. Bring your tool if you have one. Please register at 574-583-3983 or online montiparks.recdesk.com.
  • Tuesday, May 31st POP Kickoff at the Farmer’s Market- 5-7pm at the old fire station bay doors on Washington Street. Kids learn to purchase and eat healthy food, play and exercise, all while studying about healthy living. Everyone will enjoy the Farmer’s Market.
  • Friday, June 3rd Hoots to Howls - 6:30pm at the Amphitheater in Altherr Nature Park. Kim Hoover from Hoots to Howls Wildlife Rehabilitation will bring rescued birds and wildlife to the amphitheater and tell their stories. Donations will be accepted. Rain Location will be in the Anheier Building in City Park.
  • Saturday, June 4th - Free Fishing at Bluewater Beach Park- 8-10 am in Bluewater Beach Park. Indiana Dept. of Natural Resources designates 4 free fishing days a year and this is one of them. Residents can fish without a license. This family fishing clinic will teach casting, bait, lures, fishing competition and more and serve hot drinks and donuts.
